Week of 16 March 2020
Monday: Students will need to access the NTI instruction in google classroom to complete assignments. There are two classrooms for students for instructions, activities, and resources. One is the course physical science text book online and the other is the class period for which students take the course. The physical science text book online google classroom only has chapters from the book. The class period for students google classroom has all other needed resources along with instruction under 1 NTI folder assigned for the scheduled 10 days with each day as sub folders. Students downloaded chapters of book needed and NTI folder along with classroom instruction of requirements on Friday. If any questions need to be answered, please use the contact information located on this web site. I will be periodically checking these throughout the day in order to assist students and parents/guardians that may have questions as they work on the assigned instruction.
Week of 23 March 2020
Since we have now entered an extended NTI duration for current circumstances, I have attempted to adjust instruction to this as well with possibilities of future extensions. I have created assessments for the previous 10 NTI assignments to prevent students having to turn in & keeping up with a hard copy for those assignments along with me not having a great influx of grading those assignments. At this point, I have made assessments for each assignment to include foldables besides rock cycle foldable and the two outlines. For the rock cycle foldable, I plan on it being useful for numerous questions on the chapter 22 test. Therefore, I plan on allowing students to use this to assist with the chapter 22 exam whenever it gets to that point in the instruction. The outlines will be used in the place of the note packets for the notebook grade for this trimester. If we need to, I can make adjustments for the notebook as we progress. I will continue to make adjustments as needed. Please be aware this is new to everyone involved and variables to the equation may change. I have attempted to design and develop the instruction to keep in mind students, parents, instructor, and requirements set forth for current circumstances. I hope that this fits well with all members involved. Also, remember that you may contact me with any questions or concerns as several students have already done during this transition from the regular classroom setting to the NTI classroom instruction.
Students will need to go to the google classroom for their class period for their daily instruction and assignments that will be labeled as NTI and number for that day.
Just a reminder you can contact me for any assistance, questions, or concerns regarding the NTI classroom instruction. Several students have already contacted me with questions, concerns, or needing clarification on a concept or assignment over the course of the newly implemented NTI instruction thus far. In several cases, students have assisted me in making the instruction better through their questions that have pointed out glitches in my execution for some of the new format. For those students, I am very much appreciative because it has eliminated problems that may have manifested for other students if they had not brought it to my attention. I am always checking in on the e-mail throughout the day as I am working on future classroom instruction or the physical science department’s curriculum, so I usually respond quickly to student’s e-mail. It has been good to have some interaction with my students even if it is not at the level that we are accustomed to. As a matter of fact, I would like to have all my students to send a brief e-mail just letting me know that they have access to the google classroom and assignments that I have placed there along with the knowledge they have had no trouble in completing the assignments. For those that do e-mail me I will place a participation grade in the course under in class assignments category.
